Biography

Professor Petoumenos is a Head of the Biostatistics and Databases Program at the Kirby Institute UNSW Sydney Australia. She has more than 20 years-experience in establishing and leading large observational cohort studies including the Australian HIV Observational Database (AHOD) and more recently the Cohort of Australian women with HIV (CLIO) Study which is the first prospective clinical cohort of women with HIV in Australia. She is also co-Principal Investigator of IeDEA-Asia Pacific a collaboration of more than 60 clinical centres and research partners in the region. Her research focus is assessing the long-term clinical outcomes of people living with HIV, in the context of effective, yet life-long antiretroviral treatment, and an ageing HIV population. Professor Petoumenos is also lead biostatistician on several large national and international cohort studies and randomised trials in HIV, Hepatitis C and SARS-COV-2 studies.
