Biography

Dr T Charles Witzel is a Principal Research Fellow at UCL Institute for Global Health and the Mahidol Center of Excellent in Health, Behavior and Society, where he leads a programme of research examining sexualised drug use among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) in Thailand. His current research uses qualitative and mixed methods to understand how social, political and economic forces shape ‘hi-fun’ (chemsex) and other types of sexualised drug use and to co-develop novel harm reduction strategies. Charlie also contributes to ongoing research exploring the impacts of mpox on sexual and gender minorities in non-endemic settings.
