Biography

As the Dean of Medicine I oversee of a large academic medical centre that is involved in a broad range of research activities that include clinical trials, translational as well as population based research. My own major research area of interest include HIV prevention and treatment focusing on key populations including people who inject drugs, prisoners and men-who-have sex with men and general infectious diseases including dengue infections. I was the Co-Chair of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee from 2012-2016. I was an Executive Committee member of the International Society of Infectious Diseases form 2012-2016. I currently serve on the Scientific Expert Panel for UNAIDS and am President Elect of the International AIDS Society Executive Governing Council.
