Biography

Akarin Hiransuthikul, MD, MSc is a neurologist and lecturer at the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. His interdisciplinary work spans neurology, HIV, transgender health, and implementation science. Dr. Hiransuthikul’s early research focused on sexually transmitted infections and transgender health, including studies on potential drug-drug interactions between gender-affirming hormone therapy and antiretroviral agents in transgender individuals. His research has since expanded to implementation science, with a particular focus on sexualized substance use among MSM and transgender individuals, as well as the clinical aspects of neurological and non-communicable diseases in older people living with HIV, particularly cognitive impairment. He also currently serves as the vice-chair of the Neurology Collaborative Science Group at the Advancing Clinical Trials Globally (ACTG).
