Biography

Dr. Anjanna Kukreja is an Infectious Diseases Physician and Lecturer at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, with specialized training in internal medicine, general infectious diseases, and antimicrobial stewardship. Her clinical and academic work is centred on HIV medicine, with a strong focus on the health and lived experiences of women living with HIV.

She spearheads the WoW+ project, short for the “Wellness of Women living with HIV Project”, a women-centred initiative that integrates comprehensive health services into routine HIV care. Through this programme, she has successfully embedded cervical cancer screening within the infectious diseases clinic, contributing to improved access and uptake among women with HIV. Building on this foundation, the Wellness Clinic has also integrated mental health screening and linkage to care, and is progressively expanding to address other key aspects of women’s health, including menopause, gynaecological health, bone health, and healthy aging.

Dr. Anjanna is actively involved in teaching and mentorship, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees, and is committed to capacity-building in HIV clinical care and research.

She is a former CHIMERA Fellow (a capacity-building program by the foundation for AIDS Research, funded by the Fogarty International Centre and the US NIH’s National Institute of Mental Health), where she received specialized training in qualitative research on HIV and mental health, and completed the Cooper HIV/AIDS Research Training Fellowship with the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, where she developed expertise in quantitative HIV research and cohort-based analyses. Her work is driven by a commitment to translating research into integrated, women-centred HIV care models that improve long-term health outcomes for women with HIV.
