Biography

Mr. Taoufik Bakkali brings over 25 years of experience in development cooperation in health and education, including over twenty years working on strategy and evidence-based programming on health and HIV at global, regional, and country levels.

Through a rich experience with various bilateral and multilateral organizations and technical agencies in several countries, Mr. Bakkali has led the design and delivery of evidence-based strategies, capacity-building initiatives, and technical assistance programmes in partnership with governments, international organizations, academic institutions, civil society and community groups using his strong expertise in strategic information, knowledge management, strategy planning and programme management.

Since joining UNAIDS, Mr. Bakkali spent 16 years working in Asia and the Pacific at country and regional levels, his most recent assignment was at the UNAIDS Regional support Team for Asia and the Pacific as Senior Advisor in charge of Strategic Information.

Mr. Bakkali is a national of Morocco. He holds a Master in Demography and Statistics from the national institute of Statistics and Applied Economics in Rabat, Morocco and a post graduate diploma in Public Health from University Henry Point Carré, Nancy, France.

Mr. Bakkali speaks fluently English, French and Arabic and has basic communication skills in Spanish.
