The regional data center of IeDEA Asia-Pacific is at the Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Under the leadership of co-PI Professor Matthew Law, their team has been awarded two of the 9, university-wide 2019 Scientia PhD positions for early-stage investigators (below), who were selected on the basis of applications nested within IeDEA Asia-Pacific. The purpose of the scholarship program is to train researchers whose work will “improve the lives of people in local and global communities.”
  • Dr. Win Min Han is a Burmese clinical trials physician at HIV-NAT, Thailand, one of IeDEA Asia-Pacific’s adult HIV cohort sites.
  • Mr. Malede Mequanent Sisay is a lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Gondar in Ethiopia.
Both will contribute to IeDEA Asia-Pacific’s regional research activities, studying HIV treatment outcomes in children and adults.
