Thailand HIV/AIDS and infectious disease clinical trials unit

The National Health Institute (NIH) of the United States has awarded the Thailand HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit (THAI CTU) funding to conduct HIV research for a second time in a row. This Unit is composed of the Research Institute of Health Sciences, Chiang Mai University; the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre and the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. This Unit is the only one that exists in Thailand or in Asia. This Unit is led by Professor Dr. Khuanchai Supparatpinyo, Director of the Research Institute of Health Sciences, and Professor Dr. Kiat Ruxrungtham from Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre and the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. HIV-NAT is one of the clinical research sites (CRS) of this Unit. Dr. Anchalee Avihingsanon is the CRS Leader for the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre site.
